Paintless Dent Repair — Oregon City & Portland Metro

Remove minor dents and dings without body filler, sanding, or repainting — factory finish and vehicle value fully preserved.

PDR technician using specialized tools for dent removal on a vehicle panel

Paintless dent repair, or PDR, is a specialized technique for removing minor dents and dings from a vehicle's body panels without disturbing the factory paint finish. Using a combination of metal rods, picks, and specialized LED light boards to illuminate the contours of the panel, a skilled PDR technician precisely massages the dented metal back to its original position from behind the panel — pushing the dent up millimeter by millimeter until the surface is completely flat. No grinding, no body filler, no repainting.

The result is a repair that is genuinely indistinguishable from the original panel — because you're not covering up the dent, you're removing it. Traditional body shop dent repair uses filler and repaint, which introduces new materials over the original surface and can cause color-match issues, especially on pearl and metallic finishes common in Oregon's automotive market. A PDR repair is also more durable long-term because the factory paint and factory metal are preserved without any alteration to the original construction.

Portland-area vehicles accumulate dents in predictable ways. Hail storms in the Columbia River Gorge corridor and the occasional Willamette Valley event leave rooftops and hoods dimpled with dozens of small hail dents. Crowded parking lots at Portland's busy shopping centers and employer campuses lead to door dings. Grocery cart impacts, children's bike handles leaning against cars, and narrow garage entries all contribute. PDR is the correct solution for all of these — provided the paint over the dent has not cracked or chipped. If paint is broken, PDR is not applicable and a conventional body repair is needed instead.

PDR is also ideal for pre-sale preparation. A vehicle with several door dings and minor dents appraised at a dealer will receive a lower trade-in value to account for the repair cost the dealer will incur. Having PDR performed before sale or trade removes those deductions and typically returns more than the cost of the repair. Combining PDR with an exterior detail and paint correction creates a complete pre-sale preparation package for maximum return.

🔧 When PDR Works — And When It Doesn't

PDR is the right tool for dents where the paint is still intact — hail damage, door dings, parking lot impacts, and minor body panel damage. It cannot repair dents where the metal has creased or kinked sharply, where the paint has cracked or chipped, or where the dent is too close to a body line or panel edge to access with tools. Our technicians will assess your vehicle honestly and tell you exactly what PDR can fix, what requires a body shop, and what the cost is upfront — no surprises.
